Henry Louis Morris

Henry Louis Morris was born to Max Morris and Celia Cohen Morris on December 19, 1926. His older sister, Harriet was born January 30, 1924. Tragically, Celia passed away on 4/13/29 at the age of 30. Max married Ethel Feldman January 17, 1932 who along with Max raised their children

Hank attended State Teacher’s College in Oswego, NY until he was drafted into the Army.

Henry entered the Army and rose to the rank of sergeant. His father, Max Morris, served as a supply sergeant during WWI, Henry had a similar role in WWII.

Anita Doris Dwartz Morris

Anita Doris Dwartz was born in January 7, 1931 in Bronx, NY to Arthur Dwartz and Shirley Smith Dwartz who were immigrants from Lithuania. Her older sister, Irene was born February 3, 1928. The Dwartz family lived at 2187 Cruger Avenue in Bronx, NY. Arthur was a kosher butcher. Shirley was a talented seamstress who made much of the clothing that her daughters wore.

Anita Morris and Henry Morris

Anita was at a friend’s sweet 16 party in the Bronx and met a boy from Brooklyn, named Henry Morris. They were married on December 25, 1949. (Shirley and Arthur’s 21st wedding anniversary.)

Hank and Anita rented an apartment on S. Pascack Road when first married. They moved into the village of Spring Valley and their first daughter, Paula Jean was born on September 4, 1953. They built a house at 218 N. Pascack Road. Anita’s parents, Arthur and Shirley Dwartz build a house next door.

Ronni Carol was born on January 5, 1957. Paula and Ronni grew up next door to their grandparents. Martin, Irene (Anita’s sister) and their children Karen and Barry lived a mile away. The three families worshipped together at the Jewish Community Center of Spring Valley. They celebrated holidays together. Karen, Barry, Paula and Ronni grew up not only as cousins but as close friends.

Henry was an “shop” teacher (which has since transitioned to “industrial arts” and most recently “technology”). He initially worked in Rockland County but had most of his career commuting into the New York City School District. For several years he also ran a driving school and was credited with teaching thousands of women who moved out of New York City to “the country” without knowing how to drive. Anita was a stay at home mom and then returned to being an executive assistant. Henry had incredible entrepreneurial skill. After installing an electric garage door opener in his in – laws’ house decided to start a business. For decades he established and ran the EZ- Lift Garage Door in Rockland County, NY.

Hank and Anita sold their house in Spring Valley and moved to Loch Sheldrake, NY. They purchased a condo in West Palm Beach and for several years went back and forth between New York and Florida. They loved bowling, travelling and remained active in their synagogues. Ronni married Charlie Karambeles in ….Paula married her long term partner Deborah Hyman on July 2, 2011.

Anita passed away on June 9, 2010 at age 79 from a cerebral hemorrhage.
